Our most economical lead ballast weights are approximately 40 lbs each, and are always in inventory, ready to ship. The major portion of our business is lowering the center of gravity in lift equipment and sailboats. For sailboats, we custom design and cast a counterweight called a keel to keep them upright under loading from the wind. For the heavy equipment industry, we design and fabricate counterweights that keep lifting equipment upright when loaded. These two businesses share remarkable similarities, though the in-service use of these products is very different. We believe that the crossing over of the technologies we use benefits all of our customers.

Test Weights
Our standard test units consist of a two wheeled cart with a lead filled box (approximately 12" square) or an open top box with individual plates that can be easily removed. Each 500-lb cart is mounted to an independent axle with rubber wheels for easy maneuverability. Painted matte black with the capacity stamped onto box, all carts are designed to nest for space savings.

In addition to providing standard weights, Mars Metal engineers, designs and custom builds test weights for any application, from aerospace structural design and elevator testing to bridge, crane and forklift counterweight boxes. Window Weights
Mars Metal provides a wide range of cast or extruded lead window weights, designed to facilitate the balancing of window sashes. Window Weights are available in round, square or rectangular sections in various lengths with or without center holes. Weights for windows can be stacked to provide more or less weight until the precise balanced point is achieved. Lead counterweights, unlike steel weights, can be easily cut on site if required and off-cuts can be reused for other weights. Custom sizes are available: please contact us for pricing information.

Lead window weights are becoming the choice by many contractors over steel cast weights due to the space savings obtained, as they are approximately 30% smaller than weights made of steel.
